Larry Reid
Larry Reid was a member of the Oakland City Council in California, representing District 7. Reid assumed office on January 1, 1997. Reid left office on January 4, 2021.
Although city council elections in Oakland are officially nonpartisan, Reid was known to be a member of the Democratic Party.[1]
Biography
Reid studied at the University of Cincinnati. His professional experience includes work as chief of staff for former Oakland City Councilmember Aleta Cannon and for former mayor and California Assemblymember Elihu Harris.[2]
As of his run for re-election in 2016, Reid was the chair of the Oakland City Council Community and Economic Development Committee and a member of the Public Works and Rules and Legislation Committees. He also served as chair of the Alameda County Transportation Commission and president of the Joint Powers Authority, which is responsible for oversight of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.[2][3]

The city of Oakland, California, held elections for city council in 2016. Five of the eight city council seats were up for election. Incumbent Larry Reid defeated Marcie Hodge and Nehanda lmara in the general election for the District 7 seat on the Oakland City Council.[4]
