Larry Shaw (b. June 15, 1949) was a Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 21.

Shaw served in the North Carolina State House of Representatives from 1994 to 1997. He joined the North Carolina State Senate in 1997 and served in that position until 2011, representing the 21st District.

Background

Shaw earned his B.S. in Health and Recreation from Alabama State University in 1972. He then received his M.A. in Administration Supervision for Alabama State University in 1973.

Shaw was a Coach for Alabama State University from 1972 to 1973. He was also a Coach/Teacher for the Texas Public School System from 1974 to 1975. He was the Co-Founder of North South Meatpackers and worked there from 1988 to 1993. He has been CEO/Contractor for Shaw Food Services since 1974.

Shaw ran in the Democratic primary on May 8 by Billy R. King, Eronomy Smith, Allen Thomas, Jr., Curtis Worthy, and Robert B. Clark III. He was eliminated in the Democratic primary on May 8.[1][2]

Shaw did not seek re-election in 2010.

2008

On November 4, 2008, Shaw won re-election to the 21st District in the North Carolina State Senate. Shaw had no challenger.[3]
