The ability to truly represent the needs of ones constituents.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
To be able to look at all sides of a situation. Understanding not only those that support you but those that don't. A candidate represents all their constituents not just those that voted for them. All voices have a right to be heard in an unbiased fashion. We the people means all of us.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Protecting the rights of those in district one. Not letting government infringe upon those rights and ensuring laws are fair to all regardless of race, class, religion, national origin, gender, age, or any factor some use to try to divide us.
What legacy would you like to leave?
A country that remains the land of the free and the home of the brave. A country where it matters not where you came from to be able to succeed and provide for your family and a country where individual rights remain respected and not infringed upon by government.

The current process in Arizona seems to be working for the time being. As population shifts then districts will need to be adjusted.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
The House is the only institution where the people are represented by population. More populated states have more voices which is balanced by the senate.

I do not believe prior experience is required as I also believe in term limits for both senators and representatives.

Our position with world trade. Healthcare and immigration.
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

If you are a current representative, why did you join your current committees?
I am not a current representative
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Yes and term limits of no more than 4 terms totaling 8 years.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I am for term limits
If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?
Leadership is not a goal in representing Arizona.

There is no one to model after for each Congress is unique and times are always changing. What may have worked well 50 years ago may not work at all today
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
I have not heard many personal stories. I do hear people's concerns mainly about the cost of healthcare. The problems with the VA and issues facing rural residents access to resources.

“ | What is your political philosophy?
Bring credibility back to the Democratic party. Work with the President and Republicans to fix problems related to our nation and our state. Is there anything you would like to add? The Democratic party is very diversified. From extreme left to middle of the aisle conservatism. I am a conservative democrat and that is what is needed to get issues resolved. I am pro life. While I fully understand that a total ban on abortion across all 50 states will probably never happen, I also realize that full term abortion is not going to happen across all 50 states as well. The solution? Middle ground heartbeat laws. While they will not appeal to the far left or far right, they are a compromise that I believe the majority can accept. I am pro second amendment. Our forefathers were wise in that people should never be in fear of enemies domestic or foreign being able to encroach upon our freedom which so many have paid for in blood. I am against increasing taxes. Americans pay too much into taxes as it is. The federal government keep ballooning. Certain departments and agencies could be combined to increase efficiency and reduce our overall tax burden I am against open borders. Immigration is welcomed but must be metered as to not cause our system nor our citizens to be overwhelmed. My favorite analogy on border security is Disneyland. How long would Disneyland stay in business if it had no fencing, security or no designated ports of entry? I am against members of Congress being paid when there is a government shutdown. I am for term limits for members of Congress I am not sold on a new green deal. While it is obvious that our climate changes, the effect we have on that change is questionable. Out of billions of years of climate, we really have very little recorded data. Of course going to renewables is environmentally friendly, but that should not be a reason to bankrupt our country. I am for healthcare. I believe a sliding scale Medicaid up to a certain income level would help those currently unable to afford healthcare. Instead of raising taxes to cover a sliding scale plan, restructuring of depts and agencies would provide the funding. Our district is one of the largest in the nation, land wise. Our roads are in need of repair and expansion. With the increase in commercial traffic our highways and roads were not designed for such traffic and need to be updated. Many areas struggle with access to water. We need more wells and infrastructure to accommodate our population in district 1. Most of our cities and towns are rural with little opportunities for our youth to join the workforce after completing school. We should endeavor to attract more enviromentally friendly industry which does not mean more strip mining operations. Our youth is our future. As a grandparent I feel it is our duty to provide a better future for our children. Sitting on the sidelines hoping reason would prevail in fixing our state's and nation's issues has passed. It is time for action. It is time to make a difference![2] |
