Campaign themes

2016

Wolfe's campaign website highlighted the following issues from an interview with the Casper Star:

Why are you running?

  • The Legislature needs new ideas and fresh energy. I can bring those qualities to it along with deep experience as a lawyer working on many of the issues that are central to Wyoming’s businesses, the energy industry and government.

2. What are the most pressing issues facing your constituents and how should they be addressed?

  • The biggest issues facing the State are how to continue to fund the essential services of Wyoming government and education during this time of diminished revenues from the minerals industry. We must work together to help keep a strong education system and maintain our continued progress in K-12 and higher education.
  • The Legislature must be forward looking and plan for ways to help to meet the needs of Wyoming’s hard working citizens while continuing to invest in the State. The Legislature must help people affected by job losses in our changing economy. We need to find solutions to the lack of availability of health care and lack of access to health insurance. I support Medicaid expansion.

3. During the past session, lawmakers cut state agencies, education and social programs to address the decline in revenue. What do you see as the path forward in coming years?

  • The path forward is a combination of finding the right size for government, funding K-12 operations as required by the WY Constitution, prudently managing all the State’s capital construction programs (which includes K-12 schools, corrections facilities, State buildings, and University construction), managing our rainy day accounts, continuing to invest in economic development and diversification and higher education, and addressing long standing revenue issues. The State cannot simply cut spending as the path to prosperity, we must think about the future and take very measured and thoughtful actions.

4. Feel free to address philosophical perspectives you think would help voters make a good decision in your race.

  • I am a pragmatic and experienced lawyer. I approach problems by listening to all sides, digging out the facts and trying to find the best solutions for the State. I have lived in Wyoming for 42 years, I know how its government, industries, educational institutions and non-profits work. I am a hunter and sportsman who loves Wyoming and its people.[1]
