Laura Devan was a district court judge for the 12th Judicial District, serving Cumberland County of North Carolina.[1] She was appointed by former Governor Mike Easley in January of 2008 and was sworn in the following February 18. She was re-elected in 2012 for a term that expired in 2016.[2][3][4]

Education

Devan received her B.A. degree from Lafayette College and her J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill. She was admitted to the Bar in 1994.[5]

Career

Devan is a former attorney. From 1999 until she became a judge, she practiced in the area of family law. She worked for the firm of Rand & Gregory, P.A. at the time of her judicial appointment in 2008.[2]

2012 election

Devan was re-elected to the 12th Judicial District without opposition on November 6, 2012.[6][7]
