I grew up in Deerfield Township, and graduated from Mason High School in 2010. I went to college at Case Western Reserve University where I studied biology, and after that I served a year with AmeriCorps in rural Tuscarawas County, Ohio. By my early 20s I decided that I wanted to try living somewhere other than Ohio, so I moved to North Carolina, where I ended up living and working until 2021. But at that point I decided that I wanted to come back home, and shortly afterwards I got engaged to my husband, Ben. Now that we have a home in Clearcreek Township (right around the corner from my parents’ house!) I’m looking forward to serving my community. This campaign is not about red versus blue polarization- I’m taking a different approach: I’m looking forward to having real conversations about the issues that actually impact our daily lives. I’m not interested in all of the distractions and hype that you see in the media, I want to know how people are doing, what their hopes and dreams are for their communities, for their families. I believe that when we focus on our shared humanity, we can rise above all the fear and outrage that’s been manufactured to keep us divided.
  • Laura Marie grew up in Warren County and looks forward to giving a voice to those who feel unrepresented. No race should go uncontested; Laura Marie is giving voters a real choice.
  • Strong public education is the foundation of our society, and we don’t want things like vouchers draining our public schools.
  • No politician should be telling women what we can or can’t do with our bodies.
Education, budgets that reflect our values, and defending our natural resources.
Of course the September 11th attacks stand out in my mind as a pivotal world event in my childhood. I was nine years old, in the fourth grade.
Absolutely; democracy is about working together. Even folks who are "on the same side" won't always agree about everything, and that's okay. I think it's very important to build real relationships with one other so that we can better find common ground on the issues that really matter.
