Laura Olton is a former nominee to the position of chair of the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission. She was nominated by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) in June 2019.[1] In July 2019, Olton withdrew her nomination due to a requirement that nominees qualify to vote in Rhode Island. At the time, Olton was a Massachusetts resident.[2]

Olton's professional experience includes running LSO Energy Advisors and serving as the chair of the Town of Wellesley Sustainable Energy Committee. She also worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities from 2008 to 2011 and for National Grid in Rhode Island from 2004 to 2008.[1]
