Laura S. Ripken (formerly Kiessling) is a judge of the Appellate Court of Maryland 5th Appellate Circuit. She assumed office on January 11, 2021. Her current term ends on December 31, 2032.

Ripken (formerly Kiessling) ran for re-election for judge of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals 5th Appellate Circuit (Historical). She won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.

She was appointed to the court by Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on January 6, 2021, to replace Timothy Meredith.[1]

The Maryland Court of Special Appeals became the Appellate Court of Maryland, following a 2022 constitutional amendment that changed the court's name.[2]

Ripken was a judge on the Fifth Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County in Maryland. She served on the court from 2010 to 2021. She was appointed to the court by Governor Martin O'Malley and assumed office on February 19, 2010.[3][4] Ripken was re-elected on November 2, 2010 to a full fifteen-year term.[5][6] She left office in 2021 when she was appointed to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.[1]

Ripken received her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in 1986 and her J.D. from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 1989.[7]
