Laura Visitacion-Lewis was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District.

Biography

Education

Visitacion-Lewis received her B.A. degree from the City College of New York in 1977 and her J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law in 1980.[1]

Career

Visitacion-Lewis began her career in 1980 as a staff attorney for The Legal Aid Society. In 1985, she became a Principal Appellate Law Assistant. She then worked as a law secretary from 1987 to 1993. She was appointed to the New York City Criminal Court in New York County in 1993 and served in this position until her election to the Supreme Court in 1998.[1]

2011 election

Visitacion-Lewis was re-elected to the court with 21.4% of the vote on November 8, 2011. She was one of five candidates running for five seats on the court.[2][3]
