I am a mom of 4 children who have attended schools in the Murray City School District in Utah. I have been a volunteer in many capacities- parent volunteer in every elementary classroom for each of my children, PTA president elementary (3 times) and Murray High (4 times), community council (4 years), Renaissance/spartan strong (committee and president) , MCSD Science Fair coordinator (4 years). I am concerned with the direction of education and would like to be a voice for turning the direction to be focused on academics, simplified teacher responsibilities, and improved transparency between parent, teacher and child.
  • I would like to focus on academic excellence. Utah's literacy rates are below 50%. We need to improve that and many other academic markers. THe state board policies should be clear and easily followed to help improve our academic focus in Utah!
  • I would like to support a simplified teacher work load. Teachers need to be supported in their role as a teacher. They need to be able to teach the age groups and subjects they have been trained in. I would like to support policy that give bright lines to teachers responsibilities.
  • I support open and transparent communication between schools and parents. All parents should have easy access to curriculum and content. I will support policy that improves parents role as primary teacher of their own children. Schools should support the parents.
I am passionate about policy that supports improved academic outcomes for literacy, math, science and many other subjects. I support policy that improves and simplified the responsibilities of teachers. I support policy that improved transparency between parents and teacher and children.
