Laurel M. Isicoff is the chief judge of the United States bankruptcy court, Southern District of Florida. Isicoff was appointed to the court on February 13, 2006, and she is the first woman to be named to the post.[1] She was reappointed to a 14-year term in October 2019.[2]

Education

Judge Isicoff attended Barnard College for her Bachelors degree and the University of Miami School of Law to earn her law degree, where she graduated with honors in 1982. Isicoff was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1982.[3][1]

Career

Isicoff was a bankruptcy law practitioner for fourteen years with the Miami law firm Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton. Prior to joining the court, Isicoff has been a partner in the firm, where she specialized in bankruptcy law, distressed property workouts, commercial mortgage foreclosures and commercial landlord/tenant litigation.[1]
