Lauren Hines grew up in Murray, KY, attended its public schools and earned her undergraduate degree from Murray State University. Lauren went on to attend the University of Kentucky to earn her Master’s Degree from the Patterson School of Diplomacy believing she would go into the foreign service. That changed when before entering the Peace Corps, Lauren became a substitute teacher and realized where she wanted to be was in western Kentucky working to educate students and help them achieve their dreams. Lauren spent 13 years in the classroom at Murray High School before leaving to work in her family real estate business. Lauren Hines is a Community First Democrat that believes western Kentucky needs leaders who can work across party lines and bring back tax dollars to our region so western Kentucky can grow and prosper.
  • Our dollars are not going as far as they used to. The cost of food and fuel have increased even though wages have stayed the same. The price of prescription drugs and healthcare continue to climb and access to affordable college tuition seems out of reach. We need a representative in Frankfort who will fight to drive down these out of control costs and put our western Kentucky families first. As your next state representative I will support and propose common sense legislation so your dollars go further and allow you to feel financially secure.
  • Frankfort is focused on taking our personal freedoms from us. They want to remove our families from making our own decisions about our healthcare, our schools and our farms. Those aren’t the values of western Kentuckians. Our representatives should be working to expand personal freedoms and allow our people to make their own decisions. They should be working on policies that respect our time instead of policies that increase red tape so that we can spend that time with loved ones or participating in our communities. Frankfort doesn’t always know best and Kentuckians deserve leaders who put them first.
  • Every year west Kentucky sends tax dollars up to Frankfort, but what are we getting in return? We need strong representation in the legislature that is going to stand up for west Kentucky families and bring investment back to our region. Our communities need fully funded public schools, safer roads and bridges, eldercare and childcare assistance and small business growth opportunities. We aren’t getting back what we are putting in. I will fight everyday in the legislature to make sure that every west Kentucky family gets a fair shake and their fair share.
Education, Economic Development, Housing, Healthcare
I like to solve complex problems, and I believe that we need more legislators who are willing to look at all sides of an issue to focus on what is best for the people that they represent and to take into account recent research and data that can help legislators make informed decisions.

I love getting to know people and have truly enjoyed my experiences getting to know voters at the door and at community events. I have spent most of my life here in Murray, Kentucky while spending breaks traveling near and far to understand how others live around the world. There is nothing that I would love to do more than to use that experience and knowledge to benefit my community and my state.

With experience in education, real estate, and finance--I have the skills and qualities necessary to bring the next generation of leadership to Frankfort with new energy and new ideas.
I believe that we must have representatives who can work towards common sense legislation that helps to alleviate challenges we face in the present, such as the cost of living, while investing in our future.
