For all of my adult life I have advocated for social justice issues. I was President of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the National Organization for Women and volunteered with the West Hempstead Women's Center and the Poughkeepsie YWCA Battered Women's Services.

I volunteered on the hotline and developed workshops for volunteers and the community on Homophobia, Sexism, Racism, Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence in LGBTQ Relationships. In 1993 I founded the Mid-Hudson Valley Gay Lesbian Professional Alliance.

From 1992-1998 I founded, edited and published a monthly award-winning LGBTQ regional newspaper called "In The Life," with a circulation of 35,000 copies from Albany to New York City, Long Island, northern New Jersey and western Connecticut.

For half a century I have stood for equality, justice, and opportunity for all.

I was an Assistant Controller & Full Charge Bookkeeper in NYC for regional businesses and have owned and operated two local businesses. I know and understand the challenges that small business owners face and the importance of a living wage for working families.

I am also a long-time animal rights advocate and have a long history of supporting rescue animals.
  • I will fight for solutions to the problems that working families face - living wages, trade education that secures a future and affordable healthcare for all.
  • I will work for alternative energy programs that bring green jobs and protect the natural resources in our Hudson Valley Region.
  • I will put the safety of our community before the profits of special interests.
I am a strong advocate of the NY Health Act. I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Our current healthcare system centers around private health insurers making a profit. With so many uninsured and in debt from high medical bills, our health insurance system has been broken for a long time but the pandemic has revealed just how flawed the system is.

During COVID-19 many have lost their jobs and with it, their health insurance. Under the NY Health Act, they would still have health insurance and would be paying on a sliding scale. There is a lot of misinformation about the costs of the NY Health Act but the facts show that there are significant savings in implementing this program which would eliminate the excessive administrative costs of our current system and and lower pharmaceutical prices.

I am also a believer in expanding strong trade programs in high schools that allow people to develop the skills needed to go into the many unfilled trade positions we have.

I believe in affordable housing programs to assist veterans, seniors and low-income families.

I support expanding the use of alternative energy sources that protect our natural resources and create jobs in our communities.
