Recall supporters

The recall petition said Thom had failed to "maintain proper financial reports, supervise staff, inform council members of business dealings in relation to the tribe’s marijuana dispensary and inadequate office time," according to the Reno Gazette Journal. It also said that road repairs and a clinic expansion had stalled under Thom's leadership.[1]

Recall opponents

Thom denied the recall petition's allegations. She said recall supporters had taken facts out of context to mislead the public. Thom said she had inherited a financial mess when she took office and that other agencies, like the Paiute Housing Authority and the city of Yerington, had stalled road and building projects.[1]

Path to the ballot

The Yerington Paiute Tribal Council found the recall petition valid on December 26, 2020. The recall election was held on January 15, 2020, and it was approved by tribal members.[1]
