Lawrence Bliss
Lawrence Bliss was a Democratic member of the Maine State Senate. Bliss was first elected to the Maine Senate in 2008. His term was set to expire in 2012, however, Bliss announced in late March that he would be leaving office to take a job in San Francisco, California. His last day in office was April 15, 2011.[1] Before his time as Senator, Bliss served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008.
Bliss graduated with his Associate's Degree from Los Angeles Valley College in 1964. Bliss later graduated from University of California-Riverside with his Bachelor's degree in 1968 and his Master's degree in 1971. Bliss earned two doctoral degrees from the University of California-Berkeley.
Bliss is a also a career services adviser for Southern Maine University in addition to being a Senator.

After a recount, Bliss won re-election to the 7th District seat in 2010.[3] He had no primary opposition. Joseph Palmieri ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 4, 2008, Bliss ran for District 7 of the Maine State Senate, beating Thomas Dunne.[4]
