The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 12, 2014. Joseph Troiano was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Lawrence Hamel was unopposed in the Republican primary.[1][6][7][8] Troiano defeated Hamel in the general election.[9]
