Lawrence McKenna was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. McKenna assumed senior status on May 24, 2002. His service ended on February 3, 2023, upon his death.[1]

Education

A native New Yorker, McKenna graduated from Fordham College with his bachelor's degree in 1956 and graduated from Columbia Law School with his Law degree in 1959.[1]

Professional career

McKenna spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in New York State from 1959 to 1990.[1]

Judicial career

Southern District of New York

On the recommendation of New York U.S. Senator Al D'Amato, McKenna was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on January 24, 1990, replacing William Conner as Conner assumed senior status. McKenna was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 27, 1990, on a Senate vote and received commission on April 30, 1990. McKenna assumed senior status on May 24, 2002. His service ended on February 3, 2023, upon his death.[1]
