Lawrence Mooney
Lawrence E. Mooney is a former judge on the Eastern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position in August 1998 by Democratic Governor Mel Carnahan and was retained in 2000. From 2002 to 2003, he was the chief judge.[1] Mooney retired on September 1, 2019.[2]
Education
Judge Mooney was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Louis University and his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law.[1]
Career
Judge Mooney began his legal career in 1974 as an attorney in private practice. The following year, he became an assistant prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County. In 1977, he returned to the private practice of law for about one year. He then worked as the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for St. Louis County through 1990. From 1991 until his appointment to the court of appeals in 1998, he was an executive assistant to the county executive of St. Louis County.[1]
