Lawrence "Larry" Pogemiller (b. September 18, 1951) was a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing the 59th District from 1983 until his resignation in 2011. Pogemiller resigned to accept an appointment as director of the Office of Higher Education. A special election was held to replace him on January 10, 2012.[1][2] Prior to his resignation, Pogemiller served as the majority leader of the Minnesota Senate. He also served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1981 - 1983.

Pogemiller graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1974 with his bachelor's degree and graduated from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government with his master's in public affairs in 1988. Pogemiller's professional experience includes working as a self-employed project systems analyst.[3]

Pogemiller won re-election to the 59th District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Barry Hickethier ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 7, 2006, Pogemiller won re-election to the 59th District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating opponents Sandra Burt (R) and Rahn Workcuff (I).[5]
