AUGUSTA, Maine: Republican governor Paul LePage nominated Gregory Campbell on May 23 to fill the seat on the Maine District Court left vacant by the retirement of Roland Beaudoin.[1]
The appointment of Campbell to a seven-year term is LePage's first judicial appointment since his November 2, 2010 election. The appointment will be reviewed by the Maine State Legislature's Judiciary Committee on June 2.
Campbell, who has served as an assistant district attorney in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties for upwards of 20 years, said, "I am honored and flattered to learn that Governor LePage has nominated me to be a District Court judge. It has been a privilege to represent the people of the State of Maine in my work at the district attorney’s office."
