Leandra G. Johnson

Leandra G. "Lily" Johnson is the chief judge of the Third Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the court by Governor Jeb Bush, effective January 6, 2006, and she became chief judge in July of 2011. She was the first woman to join the Third Circuit Court.[1][2]
Johnson was re-elected in 2008 and 2014, and her current six-year term expires on January 4, 2021.[3][4][5][6]

Education
Johnson received her B.S. degree from the University of Florida in 1979 and her J.D. degree from the same school in 1981.[1]
Career
Johnson began her career working for the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office. Soon after, she moved to the Third Circuit State Attorney's Office, where she spent 15 years as an assistant state attorney. She then entered private practice as a partner of a Lake City law firm. After that, she became the attorney for the Columbia County School Board. In 1999, she went back to private practice. She worked in that capacity until her judicial appointment in 2006.[2]
