My name is Leanna Louie. I am running for San Francisco City College Board of Trustees. Currently CCSF is in danger of losing its accreditation, operating in financial debt, and suffering from low enrollment levels. I want to help change that.

I'm excited to bring my experience in organizational leadership skills and balancing public budgets to fix these issues.

Like many city natives, I attended SF public schools & City College. I'm a proud US Army veteran and also worked as an Administrative Analyst for Sacramento Fire Dept, where I managed the Emergency Medical Services billing and budget, resulting in a revenue increase from $9M to $15M in my first year.

Everything that affects CCSF matters to my family. My father was a Culinary Arts Instructor at City College 2003-2005. My younger son just started his first semester at CCSF.

CCSF needs strong leaders who are willing to make difficult decisions to improve the education system.

My commitment to you is to always work toward common sense solutions to fix San Francisco's problems. A vote for me is a vote for accountability, sensibility, and balance. Thank you!
  • City College has 3 major problems: operating in deficit, low enrollment rates, and is in danger of losing its accreditation. I want to help fix these problems.

I am an experienced Public Servant with 11 years of US Army service in the Medical Service Corps and Military Intelligence Corps. I also have 10 years experience in the managing public budgets as an Administrative Analyst for the Sacramento Fire Department Emergency Medical Services Division.

I look forward to working with other board members, and the chancellor on coming up with a 3-5 year balanced budget to get full accreditation at City College.
  • My family is deeply grateful for the experience and connection we have with City College over the last 40+ years. My older brother and I were both students at City College in the 1980s. My father was a Culinary Arts Instructor 2003-2005. My 18 year old son is currently enrolled at City College. It is my passion to work with other board members, chancellor, faculty, and staff to help fix problems at City College and provide the best opportunities for students.
  • I am excited to work with other board members, chancellor, academic & career advisers, faculty, and staff to maximize outreach to increase student enrollment at City College. Many graduates from City College have became successful in their profession. I would like to invite experts in each profession to come help with projects to promote student enrollment.
I am passionate about equal rights for all, public safety for all, and equal access for all.
I look up to Jesus Christ who lived over 2024 years ago. He loved everyone, helped everyone, and healed everyone. I would like to follow his footsteps in helping and healing everyone with agape love.
I would recommend reading the Constitution of the United States by our Founding Fore Fathers, and the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.
Integrity is the most important characteristic of an elected official. One must do what they say and say what they do. One must do the right thing even when no one is watching. That is the basis for a person with integrity.
I am a caring, loving, and trustworthy leader. These characteristics and qualities make me a successful officeholder.
The core responsibilities for those elected to this office are balancing the budget, work well with others to achieve an approved 3-5 year plan, make sure the instructors are paid on time and properly, and make sure the students get the classes and services to help them achieve success at City College.
I would like people to remember as a person who cared about others, always ready to uplift and support others.
The first historical event that happened in my lifetime was the tearing down of the Berlin Wall in the 1987. I remember watching TV, hearing President Ronald Regan said, "Mr. Gorbachev... tear down this wall." I was a teenager in high school at the time and I remember the speech well.

Later, in 1991 when I was a 19 year old soldier in the United States Army, I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany through 1993. I went to visit the remnants of the Berlin Wall. It was a very special experience.
My first paying job was housekeeping for a neighbor in Nob Hill in the early 1980s. I found a hand written advertisement on the bulletin board at the local laundry mat on Clay and Hyde Streets.

I called the phone number on the ad and spoke with an elderly lady who lived on Hyde Street, half block from where I lived at the time. On Saturday mornings, I would clean and organize her house. She paid me the equivalent of minimum wages at the time $3 per hour. I cleaned her house for about 1 year, until I found a job that offered me more hours each week.
My favorite book besides the Christian Bible is Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effectively People". This book has helped me stay focused, stay organized, and achieve a level of success that I would not have otherwise achieved.
I have struggled with dealing with bullies and aggressors.
What did the rectangle say to the circle?

Gee... I'm a tree (GEOMETRY).
San Francisco Deputy Sheriff's Association, Chinese American Citizens Alliance, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, California State Assembly Delegate Gladys Soto, Retired Judge Quentin Kopp, Retired Judge Claude Perasso, Former SF DCCC President Mary Jung, Chinese Community Leader Melvin Lee, Irish Community Leader Liam Reidy, President of StopCrimeSF Karina Velasquez, and 1000+ individuals who signed my in-lieu of petition filed at San Francisco Department of Elections.
Financial transparency and government accountability are both very important. Tax payers should have access to know how their hard earned tax dollars are spent.
