A Lee County Slot Machine Question was on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Lee County, where it was approved.
This measure was the first step in placing slot machines at the Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track in Bontia. The owner of the track noted that if slots are approved then more jobs would be create. Even though the measure gained approval, it still needs a legislative law to allow slots in the county officially.[1] The family who owns the park stated that this would just be the first part in a larger plan to expand the entire property to have a convention center, restaurants and other entertainment venues for residents. The goal would reportedly be to provide other recreational activities, not just gambling.[2]
