Lee Tavenner
Lee Tavenner was a Democratic candidate for district 4 of the Montana Public Service Commission.[1]
Biography
Tavenner founded Boulder Hydro, a hydroelectric facility, in 1987. In 1994, he also co-founded Solar Plexus LLC, a company that sells and installs renewable energy equipment in Missoula, Montana. In addition to his work as a small business owner, Lee is a certified electrician and a solar energy instructor for the IBEW.[2][3]
Awards
Tavenner and his business partner, Mary Hamilton, received a "Montana Innovator Award," in 2015 from Gov. Steve Bullock for their work with Solar Plexus. According to the official announcement, the award was for "creating a publicly accessible learning center and reliable installation service for those interested in solar and hydroelectric alternatives. Solar Plexus has installed nearly 2 megawatts of renewable energy in Montana at almost no cost to the ratepayers or taxpayers."[4]

2016
Tavenner ran in the fourth district of the Montana Public Service Commission. He was defeated by Gail Gutsche in the Democratic primary; Gutsche was the district's commissioner from 2009 to 2013.[1]
