Biography

Education

Coffee received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 1978 and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1981.[1][2]

Career

Coffee, prior to becoming a judge, worked as: an assistant district attorney for Harris County, Texas; a public defender for Shelby County; an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Tennessee; and as an assistant district attorney general for Shelby County. He was then elected to the Shelby County Criminal Court in 2006.[1][2]
