The Legislative Performance Audit and Oversight Committee is a standing joint committee of the New Hampshire General Court.

Per state statute, the Speaker of the House and House Minority Leader appoint House members to the committee and the President of the Senate and Senate Minority Leader appoint Senate members. Appointments must be made no later than December 30 following a general election. Members elect the committee chair, which must rotate between a House and a Senate member, biennially. Four members constitute a quorum.

“

The committee shall, while the general court is in session and during the interim, consider the need to review state departments, boards, institutions, commissions, and agencies and shall make recommendations to the fiscal committee for such reviews as provided in RSA 14:30-a, III.

”
