I have spent my 17-year legal career as a public-interest attorney working for kids and families. I first served the Attorney General of Georgia as lead counsel for Georgia's consumer protection and fair housing agencies. There I won a landmark $21 million verdict on behalf of 18,000 victims of mail fraud. When we moved to Charlotte, I became a guardian ad litem for seniors and adults with disabilities, and most recently I served as a staff attorney at the Council for Children's Rights representing at-risk kids. My work history is directly relevant to the work of the County Commission which oversees a $1.9 billion budget for public health, mental health, welfare, education, and the environment. Because of this, and because I am the mother of three boys in our county's public schools, the work of the County Commission is personal for me.
  • I will fight for families, and I have a strong track record of success.
  • Data and science should guide how we develop strategies to achieve our goals.
  • Our diversity is our single greatest community asset.
Improving community access to high-quality workforce development programs.

Ensuring graduating seniors have access to career counseling and a plan to achieve a good-paying job in a 21st century economy.

Expanding universal access to pre-K for all four-year-olds.

Increasing funding for parks and greenways.
