I am a teacher and entrepreneur with a podcast, consulting and training platform called "Brave Nation" where we help people create significant cultural reform in their spheres of influence. Our family moved to Alaska about 15 years ago. My husband Jake and I have three children ages 12 - 16 and have been married for 19 years. Formerly a public school teacher, I now teach independently through a hybrid homeschool learning community called The Green Room that instructs middle and high schoolers in East Anchorage four days a week. I also teach adults through classes I offer through Brave Nation. I have managed several political campaigns over the past several years and have been an active voice through print and radio media. I want to provide balance to our Anchorage Assembly and be a voice for economic freedom and development, educational freedom for families, and the freedom to speak your mind without being shut down or ignored. I want to help tackle the tough issues that our current local government has helped perpetuate (like homelessness) and get us back to the basics of public safety, road maintenance, and snow removal. Anchorage needs a fresh voice on the Assembly who will help pull people together and get us away from "toxic tribalism" which is what I've been cultivating over the past several years. It's time for us to start having some brave conversations!

I believe in liberty. Alaskans don't want to be told how to think or what to do with their lives. Government should never encroach upon personal liberties. The arbitrary shut downs during Covid 19 were a huge government overreach that devastated many businesses and personal lives of residents, The more power wielded by local government, the less liberty for the people. This manifests itself in many ways including red tape and unnecessary obstacles put in the way of entrepreneurs and investors that would create greater levels of prosperity in our city. The infighting between the Assembly and the Mayor needs to stop. It is wasting taxpayer dollars and problems like homelessness are exacerbated. We need the courage to come together to find a plan we can all agree on and get to work. I realize this is easier said than done, but I we need people more committed to finding solutions than to furthering their political careers.
I grew up in Los Angeles and one of the first historical events I remember experiencing was the Rodney King riots at age 12. I also remember watching the OJ Simpson chase at 14. I was 12 at the time. Growing up in LA gave me many varied experiences that stayed with me my entire life. In my early years at my public school there were teacher strikes, gang violence, vandalism, and very present poverty-- not to mention natural disasters like earthquakes. These early experiences gave me an ability to relate to people of all cultures, creeds, and backgrounds. It also gave me a compassion for those suffering under bad government policies. I went from a very poor public school to a private school, which was very different. In High School I moved from LA to a tiny town in Missouri, which gave me even more cultural experience with diverse people groups.
