When I was four years old, my mom and I moved from Brazil to Ohio to start a new life and pursue better opportunities. Growing up in a working-class family wasn’t easy. We weren’t afforded much, but we earned everything we had through hard work. Despite facing many challenges, I was determined to be the first person in my family to graduate from college. I was also determined to become a U.S. citizen.
I’m proud to say I was able to achieve both goals. Going through the intensive immigration process inspired me to seek a career in government.
For the past thirteen years, I have dedicated my professional life to working on legislative issues and advocating for the well-being of Ohioans. I have the experience and relationships necessary to get things done at the Statehouse.
While living in the Southeast part of Franklin County for the past eight years, I have seen the neighborhoods of this district ignored too often because they are outside of the I-270 outerbelt. If elected, I promise to prioritize the needs and aspirations of my constituents. I will actively listen to their concerns, be a responsive and accountable representative, and work tirelessly on their behalf to improve the quality of life within our community.- Leo Almeida has the experience to be our next Democratic State Representative.
