D'Cruz's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Community & Environment Experience: Leo D'Cruz has a powerful and substantive record of community volunteerism and of working to help lift up those around him. As State Representative, Leo will continue to build on his record, he will continue to work with community stakeholders to equitably invest in our neighborhoods and will fight for innovative solutions to some or city’s most complex and pressing problems.

Civil Rights Experience: Leo has advised on policy here in Cincinnati and in Washington, DC. He has twice been invited to the White House by the Obama Administration to discuss education, immigration and health care policy with top White House officials. These are primary issue areas that deeply impact both African American and Latino communities. Leo has been there, on the ground, in the community, fighting for issues that a matter to both Black and Brown communities.

Education & Voter Rights Experience: Leo has a strong record of fighting on the front lines to protect the Voter Rights of everyday Ohioans. In 2012, Leo D'Cruz, former State Senate Minority Leader, Eric Kearny and former Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, were among the referendum committee members who fought back against HB194. Leo’s efforts and teamwork with others, forced the Ohio General Assembly to repeal a law for the first time in history, and helped to protect African American voters, Latino voters, the elderly and young people alike.[2]
