Leo Glasser
Israel Leo Glasser (1924-present) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He joined the court in 1981 after an appointment from Ronald Reagan. At the time of appointment, Glasser was dean of Brooklyn Law. He assumed senior status on July 1, 1993.[1]
Education
Glasser earned his B.A. from the College of the City of New York in 1943 and his LL.B. from the Brooklyn Law School in 1948.[1]
Military career
Glasser was a U.S. Army Technician from 1943 to 1946.[1]

Judicial career
Eastern District of New York
Glasser was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on November 23, 1981, to a seat vacated by Jacob Mishler; he was confirmed by the Senate on December 9, 1981, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on July 1, 1993.[1] He was succeeded to this post by Allyne Ross.

Judge Glasser presided over a malpractice lawsuit where Warren Juniper died after a gastric leak was missed after gastric bypass surgery. In December of 2012, Judge Glasser ruled in favor of Warren's wife, Barbara, and children. The payout was $5 million to his wife and $900 thousand to his children. Kevan Cleary and Richard Hayes, assistant U.S. attorneys, appealed the $900 thousand awarded to the children after it was found that their father was abusive, stating,
| “ | His parental malfeasance included punching his son’s arm in a restaurant, calling him a ‘homo’ and ‘not a man’ when they did not pay what he thought was sufficient attention to him ... at other times Jupiter would upset his children with talk of ‘suicide and dying,[2][3] | ” |
