All nine council seats were up for election.[1][2] In the District 3 race, incumbent Kshama Sawant and Pamela Banks advanced past Morgan Beach, Leon Carter and Rod Hearne in the primary election on August 4, 2015. Sawant defeated Banks in the general election.[3]
