An effort in Gibbon, Nebraska, to recall Mayor Leon Stall ended when Stall resigned from his position on December 1, 2025. Stall said in his statement announcing the resignation that, "Gibbon is well-positioned to move forward under the leadership of incoming Mayor Clevenger and City Administrator Smallcomb. I hope the community unites and capitalizes on the many opportunities on the horizon."[1]

Recall organizers were able to gather the 240 signatures required to put the recall on the ballot. Buffalo County Election Commissioner scheduled the recall election for January 13, 2026. Stall said the recall effort was initiated in response to a public debate over the use of emergency whistles in the town.[1]

City Council President Derrick Clevenger filled the mayoral vacancy on December 1, 2025.[2]
