Leonard Hughes IV
Leonard Hughes IV (Republican Party) was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 42. Hughes assumed office in 2005. Hughes left office in 2013.
Hughes (Republican Party) ran for election to the Missouri State Senate to represent District 8. Hughes lost in the Republican primary on August 7, 2018.
Hughes is a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 42 from 2005 to 2013. He served in the state House as a Democrat.
Hughes is Chief Executive Officer of Abraxas Incorporated. He earned his B.A. in American Studies from the University of Missouri, 2005.
He is a member of Freedom Incorporated, NAACP, Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, and is Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus.[1]

Redistricting
On May 4, 2011, the Senate and House each procured sufficient votes to override Governor Jay Nixon's (D) veto. Four Democrats were needed to vote with the GOP in the House. Hughes cast the fourth and final vote. Hughes -- who after the vote was reported to be crying -- said he voted for the plan because his Congressman (Emanuel Cleaver) requested he do so.[2] The House vote was 109-44 to override while the Senate vote was 28-6.
