Leslie Emi Kobayashi (b. 1957) is a Article III federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. She was nominated to the court by Barack Obama on April 21, 2010 and confirmed by the Senate on December 18, 2010. She assumed senior status on October 9, 2024.[1]

Early life and education

Judge Kobayashi received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in 1979 and her law degree from the Boston College Law School in 1983.[2][3]

On April 21, 2010 Kobayashi was nominated to a seat as a federal judge on the District of Hawaii by President Obama. She was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Helen Gillmor.[5][6][7] Kobayashi was confirmed to the court by the Senate on December 18, 2010.[4]

Kobayashi was rated Well Qualified by a substantial majority and Qualified by a minority of the American Bar Association.[8]
