My life has been defined by hard work, compassion, and a commitment to serving my community. Raised by an Illinois correctional officer and teacher, I learned from an early age the value of public service and advocating for others - core values that have guided my progressive worldview. When I moved to Valparaiso in 2005 with my husband Fred Bamesberger to start a family and eventually have two children, I embraced my role as a proud Hoosier advocate. I became a fierce voice for the disabilities community, helping start a playgroup called Club Wonder for children with special needs and their siblings. I also served on the design committee for the redesign of ValPLAYso's inclusive playground in 2013 and the Valparaiso Mayor's Council for Disability.
  • Restoring reproductive rights by overtuing Indiana's abortion ban and pushing legislation to expand maternity care in our state, especially in rural areas.
  • We need to rebuild our pubic schools and by reversing the policis that have allowed public funds to go towards vochers for private schools.
  • We must have a government that prioritizes the needs of people with disabilites. A recent budgeting mistake has eliminated a much needed attendant care program that many families relied on. It's an issue that effects all of us as anyone can become disabled at any time for any reason.
I am passionate about restoring Hoosiers reproductive rights, rebuilding our public schools, stengthening unions and workers, prioritizing mental health, protecting our environment, and supporting the special needs community.
Our elected officals need to be honest and have integrity. I strive to do everything in my life with commitment and compassion.
I believe that my experiences as a mother, and a mother fo child with special needs, along with my years in activism, environemntal work, and music, will make me a great state senator. I experience many of the challenges faced by my fellow Hoosiers and will also listen and learn from them, to know how best to serve them.
I believe that as a state senator, it is vital that every constituent is heard and that every issue decided using the wealth of knowledge and experience that the people have. It is the essence of democracy.

Here in Indiana we must create a ballot measure process. While they can be unpredictable, they are a vital tool in enacting the desires of the people. For example, with reproductive rights, we know that if put to a vote, women's rights woud be restored.
