Stephenson ran in the 2012 election for Maine House of Representatives District 103. Stephenson ran unopposed in the June 12 Democratic primary on June 12, 2012 and was defeated by incumbent Michael McClellan (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

Stephenson's opponent in the November 2 general election was Republican candidate Michael McClellan. According to unofficial results, McClellan defeated Stephenson in the November 2 general election.[3] Republican incumbent John Robinson was not eligible for re-election under Maine's term limits.
