An effort to recall District 13 Supervisor Lester Lewis on the Taylor County Board of Supervisors in Wisconsin was initiated in 2023. A recall election was scheduled for July 18, 2023, after recall supporters gained a sufficient number of signatures to get the recall on the ballot.[1] The recall effort succeeded when Harvey Suckow defeated Lewis in the July 18 election.[2]

Recall supporters

Supporters of the recall took issue with Lewis' conduct during Veterans Service meetings. Supporters highlighted the departure of three Veterans Service Office employees who cited Lewis and other county leadership as reasons for leaving their jobs.[3]

Recall opponents

Lewis responded to the recall effort by contradicting the claims of the employees and emphasizing the need to follow rules. Lewis also pointed to his record as county supervisor and argued that he always worked for the county's betterment.[3]

To get the recall on the ballot, supporters had to collect a number of signatures equal to 25% of the number of voters who voted in the previous gubernatorial election, 170.[1]
