I'm Leticia, a wife, mother, paraprofessional educator, and independent mentor who works for SUHSD. My political experience is based on my citizen’s responsibility and my right to choose what I want through my vote. I am a Conservative and have been a Chula Vista resident for the past 18 years. In April 2024, I was appointed as a member of Chula Vista’s Human Relations Commission, and I love it because Chula Vista being a welcoming city is for everyone who loves her. My volunteer experience started as a teenager in Imperial Beach, at Mar Vista High, and then transferred to Chula Vista when I attended Southwestern College. Years later as a parent of teenagers, I transferred and I'm a PLNU student. I've done so many things for the good of Chula Vista and never been in the spotlight until I got to fight for Harborside Park and people called me an activist, for which I say I’m an accidental activist, because I consider everything my duty as a God’s servant. Since 2008 I’ve been a parent liaison within the CVESD and SUHSD. I love to teach and educate people on how to get involved in their child’s school and community. Also, I mentor women and youth through a women’s group, I love to share ways to enjoy life and family is a priority. I like people to learn ways to work together for a cause and make things happen in our communities. I'm here to help us all shine in the darkness.
  • I believe in the need to protect our families as the foundation of our nation and fight to preserve our children’s rights and freedom! After God, I support families first and consider exceptional adults and children as well as the elderly, the most vulnerable people in our city.
  • As a resident of District 4, I understand we have been ignored and underserved by past politicians, and I understand the strong need we have to make our voices heard. I AM YOUR NEIGHBOR! and an outsider in politics, I AM NOT a POLITICIAN!
  • I support local businesses, big and small, and when in moments of a crisis, I believe we must gather together and support one another. Also, our pets! Our pets are family and I want to create a highly needed “Loved Dog’s Park in our District 4. For these and our families, I humbly ask for your VOTE and promise integrity as a servant of my city for you… “I am ready to listen!”
There are different public policies developed by governmental officials and ready to be put into action while others will be taken over time. I am passionate about my plan to listen to what the people need to say they need and work accordingly in favor of the public. Most of the time laws are passed, and funding goes without the people knowing what happened later. I want them to be informed on topics that concern the general public. I plan to have open communication with the whole city who wants to stay in touch with me as their representative...
Without a doubt, the key quality the seat possesses is the opportunity to listen to the citizens and the required for the seat I am running for is none other than a strong leadership ability. As a leader, I will be able to make informed decisions, bases on the citizens' needs, I will inspire others to take action, and work collaboratively towards achieving a common goal. Vote for me and I will ensure that our community is in good hands." it possesses the opportunity to listen to the citizens' needs and try our best to keep their families safe, and not only make choices following an agenda.
I look up to my mother. She's a woman of faith, wise when making choices, has a vision never acts by impulse, and is slow to anger.
For someone to understand MY political philosophy must understand the value of a person and choose to serve others, by helping, comforting, cooperating, sharing, and praying. Is not about me, it's about us. Read: Philippians 2:3-8 (ESV). The Bible and the Bill of Rights.
I am a woman of faith who serves others. I am compassionate, I love to create teamwork and try to make wise choices. I look at the future consequences of my actions, I do not act impulsively, and I am slow to anger.
I believe the core responsibility of someone elected to an office is open communication and truly listen to what the people need. The people elects us as representatives to be their voice! We have to respond accordingly.
The gift of service. I contribute to the well-being of others trying to make the world a better place.
The first historical event I remember was the Kuwait War. I was probably 16 years old.
My very first job was as a "baby-sitter" when I was in high school, it lasted two years.
The citizens most of the time do not know they have the power! They can attend a meeting and request by speaking up in the public comments or an specific item on the agenda. Speak up! that's the power they have and is mostly ignored.
Not really, I am not a politician and according to what I have experienced in the last months, I've learned that we as residents can attend a meeting and express our needs. As citizens of the city, we elected the city council members to represent us, to be our voice, and not to govern us, something many forget most of the time. And it reminded me of a quote from President Lincoln: "If you want to test a man's character, give him power".
I believe the most helpful things are a combination of skills and a little bit of knowledge of U.S. history and, the U.S. Constitution. The skills range from integrity, good character, critical thinking, good human relations and humility,
Every move of funds must be public and previously announced how it is to be used, and if possible, allow people to vote on to prioritize. We can make a city "look" pretty and the citizens being affected by taking down or keeping a tree to save money.
