Leticia Marques
Leticia Marques is a judge of the Florida 9th Circuit Court. Her current term ends on January 7, 2031.
Marques won re-election for judge of the Florida 9th Circuit Court outright in the general election on November 5, 2024, after the primary and general election were canceled.
Biography
Education
Marques received her B.A. degree (Political Science) from Loyola University of New Orleans and her J.D. degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.[1]
Career
Marques began her career as an attorney with Draper Law Offices. She spent eight years at that firm and then another eight years with Dellecker, Wilson & King (f/k/a Martinez & Dalton). Around 2001, she started her own firm, Leticia J. Marques, P.A., where she worked at the time of her election.[1]

Selection method

There are 597 judges on the Florida Circuit Court, each elected via nonpartisan elections. They serve six-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to retain their seat.[2]
The chief judge is selected by peer vote and serves in that capacity for two years.
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:[2]
- a qualified elector;
- a state resident;
- admitted to practice law in the state for five years; and
- under the age of 75 (retirement at 75 is mandatory).
2012
Marques was elected to the Ninth Circuit Court in the general election on Nov. 6, 2012. She defeated Joel Wilson, receiving 58% of the vote.[3][4]
Marques received 44.9% of the vote in the Aug. 14, 2012 primary.[5][6][7]
