Copeley ran for the seat held by Rick Elmore on the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2010. She lost in the primary election, when Steven Walker and Rick Elmore garnered more votes.[2] Copeley came in third of the four candidates in the May 4 primary vote.[3]
Endorsements
Copeley has been endorsed, alongside Rick Elmore, by the Charlotte Observer: "She has been recognized as one of the best lawyers in the nation. She is in private practice handling family law, domestic violence and workers' compensation cases, among others. She is energetic, cerebral and her collegial approach would help the Court of Appeals handle a heavy workload."[4]
