Lewis Combs grew up in the small town of Bluff City, Tennessee near the Virginia border. His mother was a local 5th grade teacher and his father was a Highway Patrolman. The family supplemented their income by raising tobacco and Angus cattle. His childhood left him with a great respect for education, public safety, and hard work. After completing college and law school, Lewis devoted most of his professional career to public service. He has served as a Judge, a defense attorney, and as prosecutor. He was appointed by Tennessee Governor, Ned McWherter, as the Governor's Regional Representative for the 1st Congressional District located along the Virginia/North Carolina border. During his tenure with the governor, he worked with Senator Al Gore, Jr. and Senator Jim Sasser, and their offices, as well as several other members of Congress. Lewis will draw upon his lifetime experience in government to serve the citizens of the District.
  • Public education is “the great equalizer”.
  • Government serves as both a tool and an investment to improve the health, safety and welfare of our citizens. Taxpayer funds should be spent wisely.
  • Affordable quality healthcare should be available to all citizens.
Creating policies that provide opportunities for our citizens to succeed regardless of their zip code. I am passionate about improving the economic and environmental future of our country through common sense legislation. This is especially important as we hopefully transition past this current global pandemic.
