Three of the seven seats on the Lewisville Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Incumbent Angie Cox was the sole candidate to file in the race for Place 3. Fairooz Adams and Katherine Sells faced each other for the seat in Place 4, while incumbent Kris Vaughn did not seek re-election. Place 5 incumbent Brenda Latham opted not to seek re-election and Will Ferson, Allison Lassahn, and Jenny Proznik sought the position. There was no primary.[1] Sells and Proznik won the seats in Places 4 and 5 while Cox won her unopposed re-election bid in Place 3.[2]

Voter and candidate information

The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees is composed of seven members who are elected by district to three-year terms in specifically numbered seats. Candidates file to run for a specific seat, but all voters in the school district are eligible to vote for every seat up for election. Places 3, 4, and 5 were scheduled for general election on May 7, 2016. There was no primary election.[3]

Candidates running for the school board had to be a United States citizen, a resident of Texas for at least 12 months, and a resident of the district for at least six months. Candidates also had to be 18 years of age or older and registered to vote.[3]
