Candidate Connection

Lex Leifheit completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Leifheit's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

Supporting Community-Invested Schools: Ensure an initial elementary assignment that is close to home while maintaining pathway programs. Leverage public-private-nonprofit partnerships to strengthen under-requested schools. Building Enrollment and Sense of Belonging: Improve communication and cultural affirmation to stem school flight. Ensure that new initiatives, particularly those reducing curriculum choice, are designed with comprehensive student and family input. Strategic Planning for the Future: Implement transparent budgeting and spending through OpenBook or a similar tool. Engage community members around a thoughtful, accessible planning process to address underutilized properties and future needs.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Education, Economic and Workforce Development - these areas of public policy address opportunity and inequality and are interconnected. To address the San Francisco Unified School District's achievement gap we must improve classroom outcomes while also expanding the pipeline to career and internship opportunities and removing common barriers faced by socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
