The Libertarian Party of Utah is the Utah political party affiliate of the national Libertarian Party. The party is headquartered in Midvale, Utah.[1]

  • Individual liberty
    "We affirm that every individual is the exclusive owner of his/her own life and of all the products of that existence."
  • Personal responsibility
    "We affirm that each individual is responsible for his/her actions and the results and rewards thereof, that freedom does not exist without personal responsibility."
  • Self-defense
    "We affirm that no lawful right exists which allows one person to initiate force against another, and we defend the right of any person to resist oppression in any form."
  • Equal rights
    "We affirm that rights are neither collective nor additive. No group of individuals has more rights than any one individual."

The state party is governed by a set of rules and bylaws. The bylaws also typically give details on the party's process for nominating and sending delegates to the national party convention during presidential elections. The following is a summary of the Utah Libertarian Party's rules as of October 2015. This summary focuses on the structure and governance of the party:[4]

  • The party officers include the chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer and legal counsel. These officers make up the executive committee.
  • Party officers are elected during odd-numbered years and serve two-year terms.
  • The central committee is made up of the executive committee and the county chairs.
