Liechtenstein Same-Sex Marriage Referendum (2011)
The Liechtenstein Same-Sex Marriage Referendum was voted on in the country of Liechtenstein on June 17 through June 19, 2011, in the country of Liechtenstein.
In March 2011, the Liechtenstein Parliament passed a law that gave same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual married couples except for some restrictions regarding adoption and surrogacy. The law was set to be implemented in September 2011. The group Vox Populi announced it would qualify a referendum seeking to stop the law from taking effect. The referendum was approved with 68% of voters voting in favor, meaning the law went into effect.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
