Lily’s Beliefs Lily believes in family values, high quality education, fiscal discipline, lower taxes, civic responsibility, small business and small government. She loves Plano and Texas! Lily and her husband plan to retire in Plano and so she will work to help Plano continue to have a bright future. It is important to Lily to help keep Plano family-oriented. Why is Lily Running? Plano is facing many issues with which citizens have expressed frustrations. Lily decided to campaign for the City Council, and the Mayoral position specifically, in order to positively impact Plano’s future. She promises to listen to the voice of the citizens and be their advocate. What Will Lily Do as Mayor? 1. Lily will listen to the voice of the people and act on citizens’ concerns. 2. She firmly believes that better control of the city’s budget along with lower property taxes will return the benefits back to the residents. 3. Lily will work to improve fiscal transparency by publishing budget details and monthly spending online, so that taxpayers can know exactly how their money is used. 4. She vows to help protect the quality of Plano ISD’s education and citizens’ property values by controlling high-density housing. 5. Lily plans to help foster safe neighborhoods by providing better city management. 6. Lily is motivated to aid economic development by attracting high-tech enterprises and encouraging small business development. Why Vote for Lily? Lily believes in Plano First! She will put the interests of Plano citizens’ first. As a fiscal conservative, it will be important to reduce city spending and also be very careful when adding city debt. Bao detailed the following platform in response to a questionnaire from Community Impact Newspaper:
“ |
First and foremost, I am dedicated to being a voice for all of Plano and not for out-of-town developers. Too many times in recent years, citizens have spoken out at city hall only to be told that their voices don’t matter. This must change. I will listen to their concerns and I will be their voice. Next, I will work to lower property taxes. Because our real estate appraisals have gone up in the last three years, we have seen a huge increase in our property taxes. But our income has not gone up as much. We need to be more fiscally conservative by reducing the property tax rate in order to lessen the burden to our hard-working citizens. We also need to save more of what we are taking in, to prepare for rainy days. Finally, I will work to keep Plano suburban, and I will start by working to repeal part of the Plano Tomorrow plan. We must have a smart growth strategy as opposed to one that is detrimental to our citizens on many levels. With the continued influx of high-density housing comes an increase in traffic, overcrowding of schools and the potential of increased response time for our emergency first-responders. Plano deserves better and, as your mayor, I will work to ensure that a better plan is put in place. I ask you to vote for me, and vote for a brighter future for Plano.[4][3] |
