  • During his presidential announcement speech on June 3, 2015, Lincoln Chafee advocated for the United States to use the metric system. Chafee said, "Here’s a bold embrace of internationalism: let’s join the rest of the world and go metric. I happened to live in Canada as they completed the process. Believe me, it is easy. It doesn’t take long before 34 degrees is hot. Only Myanmar, Liberia and the United States aren’t metric and it will help our economy."[1]
  • In 2012, Chafee signed a bill requiring each Rhode Island state agency to evaluate its regulations for adverse effects on small businesses over the course of four years. Chafee praised the effort as showing “Rhode Island’s commitment to make state government more efficient and create a clear, predictable and reliable regulatory system for business.”[2]
