  • Chafee’s 2014 budget for Rhode Island apportioned $3 million for workforce development support. With this money, Chafee proposed the creation of a Statewide Work Immersion Program to benefit students, unemployed adults, and businesses seeking to train potential employees.[3]
  • Chafee signed a bill in 2014 to increase Rhode Island’s minimum wage from $8 to $9. While a member of the U.S. Senate, Chafee also voted in favor of several amendments to increase the federal minimum wage.[4][5][6][7]
