15 year Laveen resident.

Mom to Laveen students. Former Laveen teacher. Community advocate who led successful efforts for 3 new parks coming next year. Vice Chair of the Laveen Village Planning Committee, volunteering for over 6 years to work for responsible development in Laveen. Recipient of the Laveen Legend award for service to the Laveen District and Community. Teacher and youth leader in my church.

I am the candidate who knows what is going on with our Laveen children because they are in my home. I know what is going on with teachers because I was one and I volunteer in their classrooms weekly. As a community leader, I diligently research each issue that comes before me and seek out a variety of voices to broaden my perspective. I am committed to listening to and advocating for our community to build the best educational opportunities possible for our children.
  • Priorities and Perspective My children are Laveen students, so your concerns are my concerns. I will work for the safety and education of all our children. Like you, my family is impacted by each Governing Board decision. My driving motivation is to advocate for the families of Laveen. I taught in the Laveen Elementary School District. I have experienced many of the challenges our teachers face and understand the support they need to be successful. This unique perspective will help me empower our teachers as they educate and care for our children each day. These are the same decisions that will keep highly qualified teachers in Laveen.
  • PASSION Contributing to my community is one of my core values. I was recognized this year as a “Laveen Legend” by the Laveen Elementary School District for my many contributions to the Laveen District and our community. I volunteer on school and community boards including as a mayor-appointed member and Vice Chair of the Laveen Village Planning Committee, working for responsible development and growth in Laveen. I am especially passionate about education and contributing to our schools. Since my oldest child started school 8 years ago, I have been a weekly classroom volunteer and have been a part of the school PTA. I also represent the community as a member of the Laveen District Insurance Trust Board.
  • PERSISTENCE I spent 4 years persistently organizing community efforts that led to Phoenix building the first new parks in Laveen in over a decade. I have the optimistic tenacity to keep trying when others tell me to give up and will work just as tirelessly and optimistically as I achieve the best for our schools!
I am passionate about education. Every child deserves a great education and to be safe at school. We need to prioritize our children, teachers, and schools and not use them as political pawns.

I am also passionate about community planning and development. We need to have responsible development that meets the long-term needs of our community, not only what is most profitable for developers right now. In our large City of Phoenix, we also need to ensure that tax money is spent throughout the City and not used disproportionately in higher-profile or wealthier areas.

A key part of any community is its schools. To have a successful community, we need successful schools.
Elected officials should be honest and humble enough to seek for information and apply it as needed. They should prioritize people over parties and do what is right for their constituents over any political or personal interests.
The primary job of a school board member is to represent and protect the interests of the community in setting policies for the school district.
Residents living in Laveen school district boundaries. I anticipate parents in the district being the most concerned with the schools, but our schools affect everyone.
I would support diverse needs by inviting diverse needs to the table and listening to them. No one person can have the diversity of perspective needed in this time and community, so I will seek out and value all voices.
